Amaruq (Crew 18) Sol 1 Report 24-7-2025
The crew was met with a winter wonderland this morning as a thick snowfall fell over the Martian landscape. Throughout the day, the snow fell more and more until finally, it started to stick and cover the ground like a white blanket. Brown sharp rocks stuck out of the snow in every direction in quiet protest. The air was cold, the wind soft, and the landscape desolate. Not even a sound could break through the thick creamy sky as the snow crowded into empty space.

Crew 18 had its work cut out for it today, and got busy. The major effort throughout the day was installing the two wall heaters in the crew habitat. The team was successful late into the night.
Stephane worked magic in the kitchen treating the crew to pancakes in the early evening and a wonderful plate full of white rice, black beans, and sausage, and for lunch, the intrepid travelers feasted on Huel nutritionally complete meals such as, Chick’n & Mushroom and Spicy Indian Curry.
Ruth, our crew Science Officer, was able to lead an EVA with Iniya, Trevor, and Praveen samples too, marking the first successful sample collection for Crew 18!

Morale continues to stay high as the crew continuously improves their Martian habitat to set themselves up for success in the days to come. What adventures and future successes will Mars have in store for our intergalactic explorers? Only time will tell.
Ad Astra,
Trevor Jahn
Crew 18 – Executive Officer
